ARTICULATED LIFT ASSIST ARM
CHALLENGE:
An automobile manufacturer need a means for ergonomically transporting heavy parts between processes. The application called for a large articulated arm, but no such off-the-shelf product existed that would handle both the payload and the reach required.

SOLUTION:
A large arm was custom-designed for the application. Due to the size of the arm, zero-gravity lift assistance is required at all times, both when a payload is being transported and when the arm carries no load.
Air logic components are utilized to sense whether or not a payload is present, and to adjust the air pressure of the pneumatic balancing mechanism accordingly to provide zero-gravity at all times.
