CHALLENGE: The quality lab of an automotive glass manufacturer inspects samples of large windshields and rear windows by running a handheld electronic gauge around the entire perimeter of the glass.The glass is transported in an upright orientation, and technicians needed a economical means to lay the glass flat, expose the perimeter for inspection, and then return the glass to an upright position for removal. |

SOLUTION:
A custom-designed stand pivots the glass between an upright and a flat orientation, with a manually released locking mechanism to hold it in each position.Locking supports pivot out of the way to expose the entire perimeter of the glass while it is in place for inspection. A handcrank provides easy ergonomic height adjustment. (see video below) |
