BOOSTER PREP TABLE
CHALLENGE: An automobile manufacturer needed a means to locate and hold in place a vehicle brake booster assembly and a complex formed fluid line while an operator tightened the connection between the two. Tight quality control also required assurance of proper torquing.
Click to Enlarge	SOLUTION: A precise locating fixture was custom-designed using the 3D CAD data of the vehicle components. The booster is held in position with a pneumatic clamping device, and the fluid line is held using manual clamps. A custom table with overhead tool balancer keeps the driver at hand for tightening the connection. Torque feedback from the driver prevents the pneumatic clamp from releasing the part in the event of a fault, in which case supervisor intervention is required. (see video below)
