CHALLENGE: An automotive supplier needed a system to automatically rivet two brackets to either end of an engine damper. The length of the telescoping damper as it came to the operation was not consistent and not easily adjusted by hand. The supplier also wanted to avoid the use of hydraulics for the rivet forming. |

SOLUTION:
A turnkey system was designed that automatically blow-fed the rivets into two pressing heads. The pressing heads use air-over-oil cylinders to achieve high forces using only shop air pressure.A custom fixture securely holds the parts during the rivet press, and automatically manipulates the damper to align it properly with the pressing heads.
