MANUAL CONNECTOR PRESS STATION
CHALLENGE: An electronics manufacturer needed an economical means to simplify and improve a manual assembly process. Two pieces of an electical connector housing needed to be pressed together, but the nature of the parts made it difficult to hold the parts while pressing them together in a manual operation.
Click to Enlarge	SOLUTION: A custom-designed fixture along with an off-the-shelf arbor press with custom tooling allows an operator to easily maintain the proper alignment of the components while pressing them into place. Spring-loaded pins in the fixture both support the main housing body while it is pressed into place, and automatically eject the finished assembly when the press is retracted. (see video below)
