PALLET TRANSFER CONVEYOR SYSTEM
CHALLENGE: An autombile manufacturer needed a material handling system to receive incoming shipping pallets loaded with parts, and then send the pallets back out once they were emptied.
Click to Enlarge	SOLUTION: A system was custom-designed to meet the requirements. First, incoming pallets are received onto a row of gravity roller conveyors which utilize automatic stop mechanisms to prevent the pallets from rolling into one another and to control them as they move onto a transfer cart. The transfer cart moves laterally between the conveyors, pushed by an operator with the assistance of a friction drive wheel on the bottom of the cart. Once a pallet is emptied, the cart is used to transfer it to an outgoing gravity roller conveyor. A pneumatic tilt mechanism manipulates the angle of the cart conveyor to match either the incoming conveyors or the outgoing conveyor. (see video below)
